Betty Jane Carr

On February 23, 2023 Betty Jane Carr (Swinehart), went home to be with Jesus. Born July 15, 1930, to the late Dale and Cora Swinehart, she grew up and lived in and around the Upper Sandusky area most of her life. (Also lived in Marion and Texas for short times.) She graduated from Upper Sandusky High School. She devoted most of her life as a stay at home mom. She worked in the kitchen at Upper Sandusky Schools for several years where she retired. Betty was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ and attended faithfully until she was no longer able. She and her late husband loved camping, fishing and “mushroon” hunting for many years, visiting most of the state parks in Ohio. She also liked sewing and shared her gift by teaching her daughter and granddaughters. Betty, lovingly known as “Mammy” by her grandchildren, children, great grandchildren and many others, was the sweetest, most loving soul. She lived a full, yet simple life, primarily focused on her family and friends. She had very close and special relationships with her daughters, Cathy and Linda. The number of hours they spent talking on the phone over the years is impossible to calculate and will be greatly missed. When her grandkids were young, going to Mammy’s house was better than going on vacation. The love and attention she poured into them was so great that they did not want to go home and will never be forgotten. Mammy excitedly welcomed 7 great grandchildren over the last 14 years and was so happy to get to watch them as they grew. She loved following their interests and activities and, except during COVID, never missed a dance recital. She treasured her cat, Abby, which she received as a sweet gift, wrapped in her great grandson’s favorite “blankee” 11 years ago. Betty, is survived by daughters Cathy (Ron) Abbott of Larue and Linda Carr of Upper Sandusky, grandchildren Christy Lehner (Delaware, Oh), Dayna (Tim) Yarbrough (Jacksonville, Fl), Ryan (Maggie) Abbott (Larue) and 7 great grandchildren Dayne, Kiera and Kallie Lehner, Peyton and Kenzey Yarbrough, and Bailey and Cadence Abbott. She is also survived by sister in law, Carol Swinehart, several nieces and nephews and good friends. She is proceeded in death by her husband of 53 years, Robert Carr, parents Dale and Cora Swinehart, brothers Thomas and Eugene Swinehart and grandson in-law Shawn Lehner. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30AM Mon. Feb. 27, 2023 at Bringman Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Brad McKibben officiating. Visitation Will be held Sun. Feb. 26, 2023 from 1:00-3:00PM at the funeral home. Interment will be in Nevada Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Wyandot Co. Skilled Nursing and Rehab Center in care of Bringman Clark Funeral Home 226 E. Wyandot Ave. Upper Sandusky, OH 43351.
