Corda L. Spearman

Corda L. Spearman, age 101 of Forest, died at 7:28 p.m. on Sat. Nov. 28, 2009 at his residence the same home where he was born on May 8, 1908 to the late Henry and Ella (Breidenbach) Spearman. Corda married E. Pauline Buess on Dec. 25, 1930 and she preceded him in death on June 16, 2009. They were married for 78 years. He has two daughters surviving Sharlene Exline, Forest, Debbie Spearman, Atlanta, GA, 4 grandchildren Tami (Bill) Kotterman, Wharton, Terri Exline, Forest, Traci (Jim) Pickett, Lewis Center, Tonya Exline, Westerville, 8 great grandchildren Matt, Kory, Kristi, Kelli, Kotterman, Wharton, Ryan Justice, Chicago, IL, Jim, Jenna, & Jalene Pickett, Lewis Center, brother-in-law Bob Hiett, Findlay, sister-in-law Ruth Buess, Forest. He was preceded in death by son Ronald Spearman, sisters Grace Thomson, Lila Spearman, brother Earl Spearman and son-in-law Robert Exline. Corda attended elementary school in a one room school house and graduated in 1926 from Dunkirk High School. Corda farmed on the family owned farm. He was owner /operator of Pure Oil Station in Columbus and owner/operator of Spearman Tire and Wheel, Spearman Buyers Group, and the Spearman Laundry, Mobil Oil Station all in Kenton He was a member of the Forest United Methodist Church, and it’s United Methodist Men where he chaired and served on many committees. Corda was a member of the Senate Lodge #378 F&AM Lodge, Forest, Aladdin Temple Shrine and Kenton Shrine Club, Latham Chapter #364 Order of Eastern Star, Kenton. His hobbies included traveling in their Air Stream Trailer with the Wally Byam Air Stream Club, fishing and hunting on Manitoulin Island, Canada. Corda will be remembered for his gentle spirit and good heart who loved animals especially his cats and horses. A funeral service will be held on Thursday Dec. 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in the CLARK SHIELDS Funeral Home with Pastor Denny Livingston and Joe Searfoss officiating. Burial will be in the Hueston Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wed. Dec. 2, 2009 from 4-8pm with a Masonic Ceremony at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Hardin County Hospice, Jackson Forest EMS, or the Forest United Methodist Church in care of CLARK SHIELDS Funeral Home 301 S.
