Dwight L. McCleary

Dwight McCleary age 67, of Upper Sandusky, died Thursday May 28, 2020 at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center surrounded by family. He was born on January 18, 1953 to the late David L. and Jennie L. (Hook) McCleary. He married Marlene Humphrey on September 1, 1973 and she survives in Upper Sandusky. He is also survived by his daughters Dee Anne Barker (Joshua Rall and his son Carter) of Upper Sandusky, Brooke McCleary of Columbus and Brenna (Ryan) VanHorn of Upper Sandusky, three grandchildren Wyatt Barker, Revan VanHorn and Amelia VanHorn, brother-in-law Ron (Charolette) Humphrey, sisters-in-law Betty Cross and Delores (Michael) Haist. He is preceded in death by his son Ryan McCleary, in laws Darrell and Gladys Humphrey, brother and sister-in-law Jay and Nina “Gerry” Walton and brother-in-law Ronald Cross Dwight was a farmer and the owner and operator of McCleary trucking. He also worked as a farm hand for his neighbors prior to retirement. He was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church in Mifflin Township where he served as a Sunday School Superintendent. Dwight was a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau as well as a previous board member and a member of the Farm Bureau Council. He was also a member of the Wyandot County Antique Association, the Harley Davidson Motorcycle Club, a former member of the Pie-An-Ears and the Ohio State Tractor Pullers Association where he was a tractor pull participant for many years. Dwight collected toy tractors and had two restored Oliver Tractors. He was an avid OSU football fan and for hobbies enjoyed tractor pulling, riding his motorcycle, hunting, playing dominoes, eating chocolate, socializing with friends and enjoyed his grandchildren. Dwight was blessed with additional years of life due to the selfless act of organ donation. He was the recipient of two kidney transplants, the first one lasting 37 years. Visitation will be held Monday June 1, 2020 from 2pm to 8pm at Bringman Clark Funeral Home with social distancing required. A funeral service will be on Tuesday June 2, 2020 at 11am also at the funeral home with Pastor Betsy Bowen officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery. The funeral will also be live streamed on Facebook.
