J. Abigail Kelbley McMillan

J. Abigail (Kelbley) McMillan, age 47 of Ontario, OH and formerly of Upper Sandusky died on Friday May 24, 2013 in Hollywood, FL. She was born on May 1, 1966 in Toledo, OH. Abigail is survived by her parents Robert Kelbley Jr., Fostoria and Heather (Ringle) Kelbley, Upper Sandusky; daughter Sarah McMillan, Columbus; sisters Nikki Cramer, Ann Arbor, MI and Jennifer Kelbley, Columbus; Maternal Grandfather Cecil Potter, KY; Paternal Grandmother Vonetta Kelbley, Fostoria. Abby will always be remembered as a person who gave her heart and her time to so many people and animals. She was a strong, driven individual who always tried to help others. Some of her accomplishments in life: Assistant Director, City of North Miami Public Library: Represented the Miami Dade Library at Chamber of Commerce luncheons, University Relations Board meetings and City Council Meetings; Organized and hosted special events, such as “The Nature of Your Heart, Expressed in Art” children’s summer program with local artists, “Haitian Art from the Heart” art show and “For the Love of Nature” Gala; Program Manager, Miami Dade Literacy for Every Adult: Trained & increased the active volunteer reading tutor teams from 50 to over 250; Member of the Miami Dade Re-Entry Task Force & Commencement Speaker at the Federal Detention Center Graduation Ceremony in honor of inmates who achieved their GED and those that passed all the English as a Second Language classes; Speaker at Head Start parent meetings and annual gatherings social service providers; Mobile Library Service Department Manager, Miami Dade Public Library; Adjunct Faculty for Marketing Quantitative Research Methods, Johnson & Wales University; Circulation Manager, Upper Arlington Public Library Ontario Branch Manager, Mansfield/Richland County Public Library; Regional Office Manager, Baker Installations; Mortgage Department Supervisor, Credit Bureau of Columbus; Graduate of the Upper Arlington Leadership Program; Leadership Book Discussion Group organizer; Founder of Brownie Scout Troop; 4-H event coordinator; For hobbies she enjoyed researching her family genealogy, writing poetry, photography, and was a patron of the arts. Children and animals were especially dear to her. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Sat. June 8, 2013 at 11:00am in Bringman Clark Funeral. Visitation will be from 9:30-11:00am on Sat. at the funeral home. Burial will be held in Attica Venice Township Joint Cemetery, Attica, OH at a later date. Per her request she was cremated. Memorial Contributions can be made to the American Society for the prevention of cruelty to animals (ASPCA)
