Patricia Ann Berg

Patricia Ann Berg, age 86 of Upper Sandusky died at her residence at 12:20PM on Thurs. Apr. 24, 2014. She was born Sept. 17, 1927 in Upper Sandusky to the late Anthony P. and Dorothy R. (Finkle) Shumaker. On Nov. 20, 1948 she married the late George H. Berg in St. Peter's Rectory, Upper Sandusky. Surviving are her children Pamela (Duane) Gerstenberger, Upper Sandusky, Deborah J. Berg, Ft. Wayne, IN, Daniel E. (Deb) Berg, Upper Sandusky, Timothy A. Berg, Ft. Wayne, IN, Douglas M. (Nancy) Berg, Granville, OH, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sisters Dolores (William) Rowe, Upper Sandusky, Rachel (Dennis) Rall, Walton Lake, Dorothy (Allen) Dible, Upper Sandusky. She was preceded in death by brothers Richard P. Shumaker, James F. Shumaker, William A. Shumaker and a sister Sara Bader. Mrs. Berg graduated in 1945 from Salem High School. In grade school she won the state Columbus Dispatch penmanship award. She retired from Commercial Savings Bank as vice president and branch manger of the north drive thru bank in Upper Sandusky. Prior to that she had worked at Lyons Grocery Store, Star Theater and helped her husband on the family farm. She was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church, Findlay. She was a charter member of Tri-Sigma Sorority Beta Chapter and a member of 3-13 Card Club. Mrs. Berg was an avid Buckeye fan and enjoyed watching PGA Golf. She loved baking especially coffee cakes for McCutchenville Little League and at Christmas. She loved cooking, sharing recipes, canning fruits from her fruit orchard, painting ceramics, playing cards with her girlfriends and in her later years trips to Maumee Bay and Lake Erie with her family and sisters, the annual corn roast and hayride, tea parties at her house, visits to Harrison Smith Park and Indian Mill. Patricia's grandfather, Foster Finkle was the last grain mill operator at the Indian Mill. She especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren and great grandchildren participate in all types of activities, particularly sports and music. A funeral service will be held Tues Apr 29, 2014 at 10:30AM in the BRINGMAN CLARK Funeral Home with Rev. Matthew Shive officiating. Interment will follow in Old Mission cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3-7:00PM on Mon. Apr. 28, 2014 at the BRINGMAN CLARK Funeral Home.
