Albert L Karcher

Albert Leo Karcher, 89 formerly of Co. Rd. 82, Forest, OH died at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center at 11:30AM on Friday Feb. 8, 2008. He was born on Sept. 30, 1918 in Wyandot County to the late Leo and Anna (Kuntz) Karcher. He married Marie M. Boes on Jan. 2, 1941 and she preceded him in death on Sept. 5, 2000. Albert has one son, Joseph A. (Amy) Karcher, Hudson, OH, a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Rose) Miller, Dunkirk, OH, 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, Leo, Marion, OH, Bernard, Anaheim Hills, CA, Frank, Thousand Palms, CA. He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Carl, Ralph, Donald Karcher and a sister, Pauline Smalley. Mr. Karcher was a member of St. Mary Chapel Transfiguration of The Lord Catholic Church, Kirby, OH where he was an Eucharistic lay minister. He was a retired Farmer and also a caretaker of Jackson Twp. Roads and Cemeteries for 13 years. He was a bus driver for Riverdale Schools for 20 years. Albert was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2050 Upper Sandusky where he was an Honorary life member. He was a member of the Farmer's Union, the Wyandot Co. Farm Bureau, past member of the Happy Harvest Council Group. He was a founding member and past president of the Wyandot Co. NFO. He was a member of the local AARP Chapter, a member of the Wyandot Co. Senior Citizens, where he served on the Board of Directors and was involved in fund raising projects. Albert was recognized by the State of Ohio for extraordinary volunteer service to the community, was awarded by the Ohio House of Representatives as an Outstanding Senior Citizen for Wyandot Co. Area Council on Aging, Inc. He enjoyed visiting nursing homes and housebound residents and providing transportation for those in need. He also enjoyed attending the Wyandot Co. Fair where he and his late wife were crowned Senior King & Queen. He enjoyed playing cards, was an avid baseball fan, and traveling with various farm groups and friends. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Mon. Feb. 11, 2008 at 10:30AM in St. Mary Chapel Transfiguration of The Lord Catholic Church, Kirby, OH with Rev. Kent Kaufman officiating. Graveside Interment Service will be at 1:00PM Monday afternoon in St.Mary Catholic Cemetery, Carey, OH. Visitation will be held on Sun. Feb. 10, 2008 from 1-6PM at BRINGMAN CLARK Funeral Home with a Scripture Service at 5:30PM.
