Curtis O. Althouse

Curtis O. Althouse, age 79 of Harpster died at the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Sat. Sept. 10, 2011 at 6:25 A.M. He was born on Feb. 1, 1932 in Harpster to Robert A. Althouse and Rowena (Baublitz) Althouse. Curt married his high school sweetheart Carol I. Ralph on Dec. 21, 1951 in Harpster Methodist Church and she survives in Harpster. Mr. Althouse has three sons surviving Jerry C. (Cindy) Althouse, Jacksonville, FL, Timothy M. Althouse, Harpster, Mark A. Althouse, Powell, a daughter Marianne Althouse, Marysville, 10 grandchildren Jacob, Jared, Tyler, Travis, Keith (Samantha), Scott, & Lindsay Althouse, Corey Schilder, Austin & Jordan Ogarek, 2 great grandchildren Remington & Bellamy Althouse, brother Thomas (Linda) Althouse, Harpster. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter Jaclyn S. Schilder. Mr. Althouse graduated from Harpster High School class of 1950. He was an US Air force Veteran serving in the Korean War. Mr. Althouse was a lifetime grain farmer and Dekalb seed dealer for years. He was a 50 year member of the American Legion Post #225, and a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge BPOE #83. For hobbies he enjoyed boating, fishing, watching sports especially the OSU Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns. Mr. Althouse collected beer steins, rubber tire ash trays and ball caps. Many will remember Curt’s sense of humor, the way he instilled morals into his children and grandchildren by leading by example, and his motto of work hard play hard. He was always there for his family in times of trouble and loved them dearly. A funeral service will be held Wed. Sept. 14, 2011 at 10:00 A.M. in the BRINGMAN CLARK Funeral Home with Pastor Soo-Hea Park officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 P.M. on Tues.
