George Berg

George H. Berg, 79, formerly of 535 Dolly Ave died at the Fairhaven Health Care Community Upper Sandusky on June 28, 2007 at 12:50am. He was born on July 25, 1927 in Upper Sandusky (Salem Twp.) to Oscar C. and Minnie M. (Gottfried) Berg. They are both deceased. He married Patricia A. (Shumaker) Berg on Nov. 20, 1948 in St. Peters Rectory and she survives. He has two daughters Pam (Duane) Gerstenberger, Upper Sandusky, Deborah Berg, Fort Wayne, IN, three sons Dan (Deb) Berg, Upper Sandusky, Tim Berg, Fort, IN, and Doug(Nancy)Berg, Granville, OH, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and two sisters, Helen Bower, and Roberta Debolt, both of Upper Sandusky. He is preceded in death by sisters Esther Lust, Ruth Crawford, and brother Paul Berg. George graduated from the Salem School, class of 1945. During his school days he liked playing basketball on the Salem boys basketball team. He was a World War II veteran serving in the 64th engineer division from 1946-1948. Mr. Berg owned and operatored Berg Plumbing and Heating. He also farmed for 17 years. He was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church, Findlay. He also was a member of the American Legion Post #225 and the Amvets Post #777. He was a former member of the Rod and Gun Club, and the Wyandot County Farm Bureau. He enjoyed wood working, reading, music, photography, vegetable/flower gardening and especially liked taking care of his rose bushes. George was a devout Christian and religion was important in his life. A funeral service will be held on Monday July 2, 2007 at 10:30am in the Bringman-Clark Funeral Home with Pastor Gerry Mohr officiating. Burial will be in the Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky. Friends may call from 1-4pm on Sunday July 1, 2007 at the funeral home.
