George A. Stewart

George A. Stewart age 93 formerly of Upper Sandusky and Cleveland died on Fri. Mar. 18, 2016 in the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky. He was born on July 1, 1922 in Cleveland to the late George And Elizabeth (White) Stewart Sr. He most recently married Bertha (Carson) Stewart and she survives. He had been married to Agnes (Emerick) Stewart, they were divorced, she is now deceased, he then married Ann Stewart, they were married for 47 years, they divorced and she is deceased. Surviving are his children Kathleen Stewart, Lehigh Acres, FL, Richard Stewart, San Antonio, TX, Barbara Stewart, Denver, CO, James Stewart, Strongsville, grandchildren James Robertson, Janice McClaine, Elden Jacobson, Mark Stewart, James Stewart, Megan Stewart, 13 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, a brother John/Jack Stewart, NC. He is preceded in death by brothers Orrie, Thomas, Roger and a sister Betty. Mr. Stewart graduated from Rhodes High School, Brecksville, he attended Baldwin Wallace College, leaving college he enlisted in the United States Marine Corp after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. He was a Master Sergeant earning an honorable discharge and receiving two purple hearts during the South Pacific/Guadalcanal Fronts. Mr. Stewart had a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering and had been employed at many locations living in many states throughout the United States and abroad. He worked for several years on the Alaskan Pipeline and in the Philippines, at international airports and conventional power plants. He was a member of the Local 123 Pipefitters Union. He worked on “anything that went through a pipe.” He was member of the Elks, Moose Lodge, American Legion, VFW and several other associations throughout his life. He wrote a book “My First 84 Years”. He enjoyed motor homes, extended traveling and rock collecting. He had resided at Westbrook Assisted Living and Memory Care Facility, Upper Sandusky, where he and his wife were crowned King and Queen of the Senior Center and attended the Wyandot County Fair, the fall of 2014. Mr. Stewart will be laid to rest with Military Honors in the Rittman National Veterans Cemetery. Bringman Clark Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
