George John Culver

George John Culver, age 89 of Upper Sandusky was called home to be with the Lord on Monday Dec. 10, 2012 at 7:30 pm. He was born on Dec. 31, 1922 to George Frank and Laura (Blayster) Culver. He married Dorothy E. Hessley on June 2, 1943 and she preceded him in death on April 15, 1988. He then married Audrey Austin in 1989 and she survives in Upper Sandusky. Mr. Culver is survived by his children Peggy (Bill) Schoenberger, Upper Sandusky, Ronald (Margaret) Culver, Tiffin, Robert (Wanda) Culver, Carey, Carol (Kevin) Ory, Westerville, ten grandchildren Corrina (Steve) Waggy, Kelly (Kevin) Eikenbary, David (Jodi) Culver, Jennifer (Bradley) Phillips, Barry (Nicki) Culver, Tracey (Michael) Thompson, Melinda & Del Culver, Emily, Joshua and Samantha Ory, fourteen great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, a brother Larry Culver which George took him into his home and raised. He is also survived by step children Terry Austin, Cathy Toupin, Cindy Martin, 10 step grandchildren 1 step great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Edward Robert Culver. Mr. Culver attended Community Christian Center and Trinity Evangelical United Methodist Church where he became a true servant of God. His life of service to those in need served as a role model for those who survive him. He was the founder of Culver Construction from 1959-1988. George retired in 1988 but continued to frequent the office. With his sons taking over the business it continues on as Culver Construction. George was manager of Parkway Estates for 25 years. Mr. Culver was a WWII Army Veteran. He was a member of the AmVets Post #777. For hobbies Mr.Culver enjoyed listening to Gospel Music, playing cards, golfing, bowling, reading and walking. He was an avid Cleveland Browns and OSU fan. One of the highlights of his life was being able to partake in the honor flight in 2010. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, loving and generous father and a proud grandfather. A funeral service will be held on Sat. Dec. 15, 2012 at 10:00 am in BRINGMAN CLARK Funeral Home with Pastor Bill Williamson officiating. Burial will follow at Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky with full Military Gravesite Honors conducted by the Upper Sandusky Veterans Color Guard. Visitation will be held on Friday Dec. 14, 2012 from 2-4pm & 6-8pm at the funeral home.
