Helen Bower

Helen I. Bower, age 93, formerly of N. 3rd St. Upper Sandusky, OH died at 1:00 a.m. Mon. July 14, 2008 at Fairhaven Community North Campus. She was born June 8, 1915 in Salem Twp. Wyandot Co. to the late Oscar C. Berg and Minnie M. Gottfried. She married Charles H . Bower Sept. 16, 1945 in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Upper Sandusky, OH and he preceded her in death on Aug. 11, 2001. Surviving is a son Don E. (Nancy) Bower, Upper Sandusky, OH, a daughter Mrs. Win (Carolyn) Cummings, Saratoga, CA, 2 grandsons Brian P. Bower and Bradley A. Bower, 4 great grandchildren Alec P. Bower, Regan Bowers. Clarissa Bower and Lilleigh Hiser and a sister Roberta DeBolt, Upper Sandusky, OH. She is preceded in death by brothers Paul F. Berg, George H. Berg, sisters Esther Lust and Ruth Crawford. She was a 1933 graduate of Salem High School, rural Upper Sandusky, OH. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church , St. Paul ELCA Women, St. Paul Fellowship Class, she was a former Sunday School teacher for 25 years. Mrs. Bower was homemaker. She retired from the former Westinghouse Corp., formerly she had worked at US Commission, Lee's Trading Post and Carmar Gardens. She was a charter member of US Lioness Club, former 4-H Club advisor, a volunteer at Wyandot Memorial Hospital and was in several card clubs. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, flowers, gardening, sewing, shopping, traveling and visiting with family and friends. Funeral services will be held Thurs. July 17, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Henry Seibert officiating. Burial will be in Old Mission Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wed. July 16, 2008 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Bringman Clark Funeral Home and an hour before services at the church on Thurs.
