Jack Curtin

US Navy Veteran: Jack Curtin, age 73 of 406 W. Zimmerman St. Forest died at 1:20 a.m. Monday June 27, 2005 at his residence, the home where he was born on Oct. 26, 1931 to Lloyd V. and Mildred (Wilcox) Curtin, who preceded him in death. He married Ann L. McKinley in Kenton on Dec. 4, 1955 and she survives. Also surviving are son Tim (Karen) Curtin, Forest, daughters Jackie (Allen Barry Jr.)Curtin Wharton, Mrs. James (Brenda) Watson, Forest & Lori (Lanette Pelton) Curtin, Grandchildren Joe (Amanda) Lininger, Phillip (Ashley) Lininger, Nicole Watson & Tina Watson. Great Grandchildren Drew, Ryan, Emma & Corwin. Sisters Kathryn Snider, Forest, Mrs. Burl (Jennie) Hemmerly, Forest. Preceded in death by brother William Curtin. He is also survived by numerous family & friends. Mr. Curtain retired from the United States Navy on June 4, 1976 after 25 years of service. At the time of his retirement, he served as region supervisor for the northeast United States on the staff of the Chief of Naval Reserve in New Orleans, LA. He was a Korean & Vietnam War era veteran. From 1976 until his retirement in 1993 he served as the clerk-treasurer of the Riverdale Local School District. He served as chairman of the Forest Planning Commission from 1980-1982. He was a member & past president of the Forest Lions Club and was a recipient of the Melvin Jones award, a member of Senate Lodge #378 F&AM, Forest. A member of Scottish Rite Valley of Toledo. He was a member of Heritage Christian Union Church. He was a gifted storyteller who dedicated his life to serving God & country & was devoted to his family. Funeral Service will be held Thurs. June 30, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. in the Heritage Christian Union Church with Pastor Ken Gray & Pastor Mark Bishop. Burial will be in Hueston Cemetery with military services conducted by McVitty VFW Post #1182 & American Legion Post #259 of Forest. Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. 6-8 p.m. Wed.
