John Bennett

John H. Bennett, age 84 of W. Johnson St. Upper Sandusky, OH died at 9:40 p.m. Thurs. May 29, 2008 in the Fairhaven Health Care Community where he had resided for the past 2 years. He was born May 27, 1924 in Upper Sandusky, OH to the late David and Mary (Roberts) Bennett. He married Juanita J. Conn on July 6, 1946 and she survives in Upper Sandusky, OH. John is survived by two daughters Mrs. Gary (Susan) Heckathorn, Upper Sandusky, OH, Mrs. Ronald (Shirley) Boes, New Riegel, OH and a son Steve (Marcia) Bennett, Upper Sandusky, OH, 5 grandchildren Zachary Boes, Iraq, Laura Boes, New Riegle, Michelle Heckathorn, Upper Sandusky, Cara Bennett, North Baltimore, Kelly Bennett, Upper Sandusky and a sister Anna Beardsley, FL. He is preceded in death by an infant daughter Sharon, brothers Sam Bennett, David Bennett , Glenn Bennett, Gene Bennett, and sisters Eileen Barth, Mary Lawrence and Betty Bennett. Mr. Bennett retired from the former Swan Rubber, Bucyrus, OH after 51 years of employment. John was an United States Army Veteran of WW II serving from 1943-1947 3O3rd station hospital unit in England as an Med Technician. He was former member of Trinity United Church of Christ. He was a life member of VFW Post #2842 and the Amvets Post #777. John was a former member of American Legion Post #225, Moose Lodge # 1093, and Eagles #2184 all of Upper Sandusky. He helped organized and coached pony league baseball teams in Upper Sandusky. John enjoyed feeding squirrels, camping, mowing, grocery shopping, traveling especially to Branson, MO. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan. John loved going to Army reunions. His life enjoyments were to lend a helping hand and spending time with his grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Tuesday June 3, 2008 at 11:00am at Bringman Clark Funeral Home with Rev. Cindy Burkshire officiating. Burial will be held in Old Mission Cemetery. Visitation is from 4-7pm on Monday June 2, 2008 in the Bringman Clark Funeral Home.
