Loretta A. Kin

Loretta A. Kin, age 89 of Upper Sandusky, died on Aug. 4, 2015 at 3:05am at her residence. She was born May 28, 1926 in Mifflin Twp. Wyandot County, to Orbin and Bertha (Hunkele) Thiel. She married Bernard “Pete” Kin on April 17, 1948 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Kirby and he preceded her in death on March 26, 2012. Mrs. Kin is survived by her children Teresa (Stephen) Kimmet, Tiffin, Shirley Nelson, Traverse City, Michigan, Charles (Ruth) Kin, Tiffin, Joel (Janice) Kin, Columbus, Denise (Denny) Kessler, New Riegel, 19 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, brother Wilfred (Ruth) Thiel, Marion, sisters June (Jerry) McCallister, Columbus, Elinor Thiel, Columbus, Mary McDonald, Tucson, AZ, Gertrude Baer, Marion and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers Bernard (Agnes) Thiel and Eugene (Pat) Thiel, son-in-law Dr. Denton Nelson, three brother-in-laws Don Baer, Bob Butterfield, and Jack McDonald. Mrs. Kin graduated from Upper Sandusky High school class of 1943. After high school she went to work at Wright Patterson in Dayton. Loretta became a bookkeeper for many area companies and worked for Snyder's Dept. Store. She then became a homemaker. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church where she was a Lay Distributor belonged to the former Rosary Altar Society and a member of the CLC. Mrs. Kin was also a member of Wyandot County Tracers and Hospital Guild. She volunteered for St. Vincent DePaul and St. Peter's school. Loretta assisted with data collection on many books preserved by Wyandot County History, Early School House, Naturalization and Cemeteries. For hobbies she enjoyed genealogy, quilting, knitting, crocheting and gardening. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday Aug. 7, 2015 at 11:00am in the Transfiguration of the Lord Catholic Church with Father J.R. Hadnagy O.F.M. Conv. officiating. Burial will follow in St. Peter Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-7pm on Thurs. Aug. 6, 2015 at the funeral home with prayer service at 3:30pm.
