M. Iola Frey

M. Iola Frey, age 83 of Fostoria formerly of Kirby & North Ft. Myers, FL died at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay at 11:25 a.m. Wed. Mar. 14, 2012. She was born Aug. 9, 1928 in Tell City, IN to the late Estel A. & Edna J. (Holman) Saalman. On Nov. 8, 1947 she married Edwin W. “Bud” Frey in St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria by Rev. R. Kirsch. Bud preceded her in death on July 25, 1997. Surviving are her daughters Vera Gobrecht, Forest, Becky Frey (Leo Bonaparte), Findlay, Yvonne (James) Kirdy, Punta Gorda, FL, sons William (Diana) Frey, Forest, Duane J. (Paula) Frey, Carey & daughter-in-law Katrina Frey, Ft. Myers, FL, sisters Regina (Robert) Bramblett, Fostoria, Martha (Richard) Frey, Upper Sandusky, brothers Elsby Saalman, Bascom, Raymond (Dorothy) Saalman, Fostoria, Joseph (Mary Alice) Saalman, Fremont. She is survived by 14 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bud, a son Barry, son-in-law Richard “Dick” Gobrecht and sister-in-law Margaret “Peg” Saalman. In 1947 Iola graduated from Jackson Liberty High School in Amsden, OH. She was a bookkeeper for Frey Hardware for 28 years and clerk for Village of Kirby for 23 years. She served as president of Wyandot County Republican Club. She was a member of River Trails Mobile Home Park Assoc. in N. Ft. Myers, FL for 26 years, served as its treasurer for 9 years and was vice president for 2 years. Iola enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren, playing cards with family and friends and when in FL she also enjoyed playing league shuffle board. Iola was a member of St. Wendelin Catholic Church, Fostoria, its Rosary Altar Society and Just Friends Group. She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church (Transfiguration of the Lord), Kirby. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Sat. Mar. 17, 2012 at the St. Mary’s Chapel, Kirby with Rev. J.R. Hadnagy O.F.M. Conv. officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Fri. Mar. 16, 2012 from 2-8:00 p.m. in the BRINGMAN CLARK FUNERAL HOME with a prayer service held at 1:45 p.m. http://videos.lifetributes.com/290969
