Paul Nance

Paul B. Nance, age 89, of Upper Sandusky died at 6:35 p.m. Monday, March 14, 2011 in the Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Born on August 23, 1921 in South Bloomfield, Ohio he was the son of the late Charles W. and Elizabeth A. (Hoover) Nance. On Jan. 24, 1947 he married Jane L. Hawthorne in Columbus, Ohio she resides in Upper Sandusky. He is survived by his children Terry L. (Connie) Nance, London, Ohio, Pamela T. Nance, Portland, Oregon, and Paul A. “Oscar” (Letta) Nance, Pleasantville, Ohio, 7 grandchildren Amy, Brandy, Barb, Mike, Ben, Abby, Alli and 5 great grandsons. Preceding him in death is a granddaughter Erin, 5 sisters Marie, Merle, Marguerite, Virginia, Betty and 3 brothers Russell, Donald & Lawrence. In 1939 he graduated from Ashville High School. He was a WW II veteran serving in China Burma India Theatre as a flight engineer in the United States Army Air Corp. He received the Air Medal, Distinguished Flying Cross, Presidential Citation, 3 Bronze Stars, plus several other medals. Mr. Nance was also a hump flyer. Paul retired as a salesman from Armour Dial Corporation, Columbus after 40 years of employment. He was a member of John Stewart United Methodist Church of Upper Sandusky. He was a life member of American Legion Post #225 and Elks #83 both of Upper Sandusky. Mr. Nance enjoyed golfing, fishing and participated in many sports early in his life. He was an avid vegetable and flower gardener and loved to travel especially to the New England States. Friends and family will be received Fri. Mar. 18, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. in the Bringman Clark Funeral Home. A private family service will be held on Sat. Mar. 19, 2011 with Rev. Wayne Geissinger officiating. A public graveside service will be held Mon. Mar. 21, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. in the Oak Hill Cemetery with the Upper Sandusky Veterans Color Guard conducting military graveside honors.
