Richard Eugene (Gene) Koehler

Richard Eugene (Gene) Koehler, age 83 of Upper Sandusky died at Wyandot Memorial Hospital on Monday, March 26, 2012 at 5:45 a.m. He was born on May 25, 1928 in Carey to Minor and Ruthelma (Wonder) Koehler who preceded him in death. Mr. Koehler married Joyce Elaine Woodburn on Sept. 10, 1950, and she survives in Upper Sandusky. He has a son surviving Keith B. Koehler, Upper Sandusky; OH, daughters Kathleen S. (Alfred) Krebs, Austin; TX, Constance J. (Lonnie) Warncke, Defiance; OH, 7 grandchildren, Lynelle (Alan) Lortz, Kirk (Jennifer D’Angelo) Koehler, Benjamin Koehler, Kirsten (DeWayne) Mangan, Kendall (Laura) Krebs-Holm, Kendra (Jeremiah) Oehlerich, Barry Warncke, 6 great grandchildren, a brother Wayne (Marjorie) Koehler, Upper Sandusky; OH, and a sister Marilyn(Byron)Koehler Souder , Maryland. Mr. Koehler was a lifetime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was chairman and held many offices on St. Paul Church Council, and was secretary of the Sunday school. Mr. Koehler was also an advisor for Junior Luther League. He graduated from Upper Sandusky High School class of 1947. Mr. Koehler was a farmer and owned Koehler Bros. Drainage. He was a member of the Wyandot Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees and Wyandot Memorial Hospital Board of Governors. Mr. Koehler was elected Crane Township Trustee. He was a 4-H Advisor for 20 years. He served on the Wyandot County Sheriff’s Auxiliary for 42 years and served as a county committee member of the Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service. A funeral service will be held Thursday March 29, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastors Joe Trester and Jarrod Schaaf officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Wednesday March 28, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. & 6-8 p.m. at Bringman Clark Funeral Home.
