Robert W. Frank

Robert W. Frank age 95 of Upper Sandusky died at 1:05 p.m. Tues. Apr. 24, 2012 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital, Toledo, OH. He was born Oct. 23, 1916 in Salem Twp. Wyandot Co. to the late Wm. C. and Malinda (Seifert) Frank. While serving in the United States Army during WW ll he met Elizabeth “Betty” D. Davis of Gainesville, TX. They were married on May 20, 1945 in the Walter Reed Chapel in Washington, DC. She preceded him in death on Feb. 18, 2010. Surviving are sons Robert G. (Teresa) Frank, Monticello, KY, David W. (Sheree) Frank, Darien, CT, James A. Frank, Upper Sandusky, a granddaughter Faith Elizabeth Frank, 2 great grandchildren Keileigh Frank & Adrian Frank, a sister-in-law Jane Frank, Upper Sandusky. He is preceded in death by a brother Warren Frank. Mr. Frank was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and a former assistant scout master for the Boy Scouts of America Troop of the church. While living in Troy, OH he was a member of Troy United Methodist Church and had been a Sunday School Teacher. He was educated at Salem Centralized School, Tiffin Business School and received his bachelor’s degree from The University of Cincinnati. Mr. Frank’s career was with the Federal Government, working for the Postal Inspections Service, The Atomic Energy Commission and The United States Air Force as a civilian comptroller and liaison to the Pentagon where he was in charge of auditing and closing military bases. He served in the United States Army during WW ll for Army Intelligence at the Pentagon Office of Strategic Services. Mr. Frank was also a civil defense trainer. In 1970 he retired from Wright Patterson Air Force Base and returned to Upper Sandusky on the family farm where he was raised. He enjoyed designing and building homes, making wood furniture, and was classified as a true craftsman. He loved to travel the United States and visit Civil War battlefields. Playing cards especially bridge, camping and repairing antique furniture were some of his past-times. Funeral services will be held Sat. May 5, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Paul Lutheran Church with Rev. Jarrod Schaaf officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery where military graveside honors will be conducted by Upper Sandusky Veterans Color Guard. Family will receive friends from 4-7:00 p.m. on Fri. May 4, 2012 in the Bringman Clark Funeral Home and an hour prior to services at the church.
