Ruth Pauline Coons

Ruth Pauline Coons, age 73 of Upper Sandusky died at her residence on Monday May 2, 2011 at 2:41 PM. She was born on Sept. 18, 1937 in West Mansfield, OH to Carl F. Roszman and Lillie A. (Marling) Roszman. Ruth Married Richard C. Coons on June 14, 1958 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 19, 2006. She has three children surviving Connie Ruth (Dennis) Sipe, Upper Sandusky, Cathy Sue Coons, Hilliard, Charles Richard Coons, Upper Sandusky, 3 grandchildren Michael (Tracy) Sipe, Shelby, Shiloh Sipe, Arlington, VA, Brandi (Todd) Deikmann, Tiro, 6 great grandchildren, a brother David E. (Coke) Roszman, Marion. Mrs. Coons was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Jerry L. Roszman. Ruth graduated from Upper Sandusky High School class of 1955. She worked for 17 years as a teacher’s aid and secretary for Union Elementary. She was a realtor for the former Anna Patchett Reality for 30 years and was co-owner of Woody’s Restaurant. Mrs. Coons was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir and performed with the hand bells. She also was a Sunday School Secretary. Ruth belonged to the Music Club, 8th notes, both of Upper Sandusky, National Federation of Music Club, Emblem Club, American Legion Aux., Women of the Moose, Am Vets Aux. all of Upper Sandusky. She was a past board member of the Star Theatre and was an assisted director in many productions. Her hobbies included playing the piano, collecting Baby Grand Pianos and traveling. For 20 years she and her husband enjoyed spending winters in Ft. Myers, FL, where she attended North Fort Myers United Methodist church and belonged in the choir and hand bells. A funeral service will be held Friday May 6, 2011 at 10:30 AM in St. Paul Lutheran Church with Pastor Joe Trester officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 PM and 6-8PM on Thursday May 5, 2011 at the funeral home. An American Legion Auxiliary Memorial service will be at 8:00 PM on Thursday.
