Doris I. Smith Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Doris I. Smith age 88, of Upper Sandusky died on Sunday Aug. 28, 2016 at 12:55am in Wyandot County Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born April 27, 1928 in Jackson Twp. to Ralph H. and Nina E. (Dome) Benner. She married Richard E. Smith Sr. on April 29, 1947 in St. Mary's Rectory and he preceded her in death on May 5, 1996. Mrs. Smith is survived by her children Mrs. Dale (Mary A.) Reinhart, Upper Sandusky, Mrs. Gary (Susan) Johnson, Upper Sandusky, Mrs. Kenneth (Rosemary) Unverferth, Winter Haven, FL, Richard E. Smith Jr., Columbus, Mrs. L. Vincent (Donna) Sherman, Forest, Christine Pemberton (Terry Blair), LaRue, 14 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 1 step great grandchild, sister-in-laws Alma Smith, Bucyrus and Gladys Smith, Marion. She was preceded in death by her sister Luella “Peg” Thiel and two brothers Russel Benner and Dale Benner. Mrs. Smith graduated from Marseilles High School class of 1946. She was a member of St. Mary's Chapel and the former Altar Society. Doris also organized and directed the funeral luncheon's for St. Mary's Parish for several years. She was a homemaker and worked on the family farm. Mrs. Smith also worked for Soil and Water in Salem Township as a rain fall reporter and was a babysitter for neighbors and grandchildren. She was a member of the Wyandot Memorial Hospital Guild, Farm Bureau and Wyandot County Right To Life. For hobbies she enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening, being outdoors and doing cross word puzzles. Mrs. Smith had a genuine smile and was known as smiley at the nursing home. She will be remembered as a loving mother, wife, grandma and great grandma. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday September 1, 2016 at 11:00am in St. Mary's Chapel, Kirby with Father JR Hadnagy OFM Conv. officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kirby. Visitation will be held Wednesday August 31, 2016 from 4pm-7pm at Bringman Clark Funeral Home with a Catholic Prayer Service at 3:30pm in the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Wyandot County Right to Life, Wyandot County Skilled Nursing Activities Fund or Hospice of Wyandot County in care of Bringman Clark Funeral Home 226 E.
