Jimmie "Jim" L. Shearer

Jimmie “Jim” L. Shearer, age 72 of Mt. Blanchard died Wed. Aug. 28, 2013 at 1:00am at his residence. He was born on Dec. 12, 1940 in Mt. Blanchard to Don E. and Mamie M. (Zellers) Shearer. He married Kaye Earp and they divorced and she preceded him in death. He then married Mary E. Pierman on Sept. 16, 1967 in Sault Ste. Marie Ontario, Canada and she survives in Mt. Blanchard. Mr. Shearer has three sons surviving Steve (Francine) of Mt. Blanchard, Ryan (Hope) of Mt. Blanchard, Mark (Laurie) of Arlington, four grandchildren Teia, Luke (Lacie), Caleb, Abigail, one great grandson Jace, sister Deb Shearer, Upper Sandusky, He graduated from Mt. Blanchard High School 1958. Mr. Shearer was a veteran of the Vietnam Conflict serving in the U.S. Army Corp. of Combat Engineer from 1964-1966. Mr. Shearer retired from being owner/operator of Shearer's Plumbing and Electrical. Presently he and his wife own and operate Liberty Convenience for the past 10 years in Mt. Blanchard. He was a member of Mt. Blanchard United Methodist Church. He also was a member of Pheasants Forever and Ohio Association of Plumbing Inspectors. Mr. Shearer was a lifetime member of the VFW Post 4510, Arlington, American Legion Post 344, Carey, where he served as Past Commander and AmVets Post 4810, Findlay. For hobbies he enjoyed providing a home for lost and stray dogs and cats, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, traveling to casino's and cruising the town on his golf cart. A funeral service will be held Sat. Aug. 31, 2013 at 10:30am in Mt. Blanchard United Methodist Church, Mt. Blanchard with Rev. Jan Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Houcktown Cemetery, Hancock County with full Military Graveside Honors conducted by the American Legion Post 344. Visitation will be held on Aug. 30, 2013 from 3-8pm in CLARK SHIELDS Funeral Home and an hour prior to the funeral at the church.
