Joseph F. Ferguson

SFC Joseph Frederick Ferguson of Upper Sandusky, passed away at his home on Feb. 14, 2021. He was 71 years old. Joe was born on June 17, 1949 in Red Jacket W VA to Lindsey Ferguson Jr. and Opal Marie Cox. He joined the US Army in 1966 with tours of duty in South Korea, Stuttgart, Germany and South Vietnam. Joseph was awarded two Bronze stars for Valor and Bravery in combat and was also the recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a hero. He retired from the United States Army with 21 years of dedicated service. He then worked at Tall Timbers Distribution Center in Findlay, OH for 20 years. Joseph married Darline (Campbell) Ferguson on Jan. 6, 1983, she preceded him in death on Jan. 17, 2020. He is survived by daughters Patricia Dawn (David) Hawk, Upper Sandusky, Stephanie Colbert, Colorado Spring, CO and a son Michael Lane, Colorado Springs, CO, grandchildren Stephanie Hawk and Peyton Hawk, Upper Sandusky, great granddaughter Alynah Hawk, brothers Edgar (Sunok) Ferguson, TX, Gene Ferguson, Upper Sandusky, Gary Ferguson, Clyde and sisters Karen (Tony) Blanton, West Portsmouth, Kathy Daily, Berea and half brother Donald Lawrence and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, a daughter Barbara Lane and a son Marty Lane, mother, father and siblings Larry Gale, Jeffrey Michael and Edna Mae Jackson. Joe was member of AmVets #777, Upper Sandusky, Disabled American Veterans Chapter #187, Eagles Lodge #1263, Kenton, Loyal Order of the Moose, TX. He enjoyed playing guitar with his brothers, being outdoors hunting and fishing and eating out, he loved his fur babies Lucky and Maggie and spending time with every member of his family. He was loved by all who knew him. Funeral services will be held on Fri. Feb. 19, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. in the Bringman Clark Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Sturgeon officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery with full military honors being conducted by the Upper Sandusky Veterans Color Guard. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 12:00-2:00 p.m. before time of services. Due to the COVID situation mask are required.
