Norman E. Phillips age 87, of Forest died at Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay on Monday Nov. 27, 2017 at 10:48am. He was born on May 21, 1930 in Forest to Bruce and Opal (Owens) Phillips. He married Nancy J. Harris on July 2, 1949 and she preceded him in death on April 8, 1993. Norman met Bonnie Lease and they married in 1997 and she survives in Forest. Mr. Phillips is survived by sons David (Joyce) Phillips, Forest, Denis (Kathie) Phillips, Forest, 2 step sons Chris (Becky) Lease, Toledo, David Lease, NC, 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, 7 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren and a sister Eleanor Southward of Kenton. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Larry Phillips. Mr. Phillips graduated from Forest High School then became the owner /operator of Phillips Excavating & Corporation. He also became a farmer. Mr. Phillips was a member of Forest United Methodist Church, Zenolia Jeepsters, and a 50 plus member of the Senate Lodge #378 F&AM. For hobbies he enjoyed flying, fishing, and dancing. A funeral service will be held on Friday December 1, 2017 at 10:30am in Clark Shields Funeral Home with Denny Livingston officiating. Burial will follow at Patterson Cemetery, Forest. Visitation will be held on Thursday November 30, 2017 from 4pm-8pm in the funeral home with a Masonic Service at 7:45pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Forest United Methodist Church or United Way of Hardin County in care of Clark Shields Funeral Home 301 S. Patterson St. Forest, OH 45843.
