Daniel C. DeBolt

Daniel C. DeBolt age 86 of Upper Sandusky died at his residence on Thurs. Oct. 21, 2010. He was born to the late George and Bertha (Smith) DeBolt on Jan. 10, 1924 in Wyandot Co., Upper Sandusky. He married Mary E. Savidge on June 7, 1947 and she died, July 30 ,1987. He is survived by three children Daniel R. (Linda) DeBolt, Ft. Myers Fla., grandsons Daniel T. & Elliot, Thomas E. (Linda) DeBolt,Whian Whian, Australia, grandchildren Seth ( Kandace) and great grandson Silas, Lexington, KY, Corina and great grandchildren, Jacob, India & Taylor of Melborune, Australia, Leona, Melborune, Australia, Silas, Sydney, Australia , Tegan, Sydney, Australia , a daughter Diane (Ray) Smith, Upper Sandusky, grandchildren, Tonya Smith, Sycamore, great grandchildren Kaylina & Dalton, Nathan (Jodi) Smith, Glenford, great grandchildren Caley & Jaxen. On Sept. 18, 1988 he married the former Linda Swartz Racheter and she survives with his extended family, Sonja, Chantel, Seth and Shanae Ankney, of Sycamore, Shauna (Raul) Blake, Mason & Payton Amesquita, of Vanlue, Sharri & Lauren Racheter and Stefan Racheter of Upper Sandusky. He was preceded in death by three sisters Annabelle Clark, Gail Wyer, Joyce Hussey, and two brothers John & George DeBolt. He is survived by one brother Charles (Marianne) DeBolt, Gainesville, Fla. and a sister in law Roberta DeBolt, Upper Sandusky. Mr DeBolt graduated from the Eden centralized school in 1942. He served in the U,S. Army during WWII in the Philippines and Korea from 1944-1946. Dan was a retired grain, livestock and poultry farmer after 40 years. He served as a Wyandot Co. Commissioner from 1973 to 1980. He served on several dairy and swine livestock boards, former 4-H advisor 12 years, little league coach, member of the hospital Board of Governors, former U.S. Commission Co. Board of Director for 9 years and a member of the Eden Grange for many years. He was office manager of the OBES for 4 yrs .in Upper Sandusky and later in Findlay, OH. He was the Farmers Market Master for Wyandot Co. for 16 yrs., Wyandot Memorial Hosp., volunteer, he was chairman of the Wyandot Co. Board of Elections for the past 10 years, past president of the Democratic Party and served on the social committee. He was 3 times past Exalted Ruler of BPOE 83 1980, 1993, 2003, he also served on the House committee and a member of the PER Association, was a member of the American Legion Post 225, and AmVets 777. He was a member of the Smithville United Methodist Church and has been attending the Trinity United Church of Christ. He bowled in the King and Queens League for several years and the Monday night Elks League. He was an avid golfer, sports fan, and enjoyed reading, working cross word puzzles, playing cards, singing, fishing, mushroom hunting, entertaining, and breakfast at McDonalds. A Private Family Graveside Service will be held on Monday Oct. 25, 2010 at the Smithville Cemetery with the Rev. Brad McKibben officiating followed by Military Graveside Honors to be conducted by Upper Sandusky Veterans Color Guard. The Family will receive friends at Bringman Clark Funeral Home from 1-5:00PM on Sun. Oct. 24, 2010, a Elks Memorial Service will be conducted at 5:00PM.
