Dorothy Parsell

Dorothy C. Parsell, age 98 formerly of Jackson Twp. and N. 4th St. Upper Sandusky, OH died at 6:15 p.m. on Tues. Sept. 4, 2007 in the Wesley Glen Health Care Center, Columbus, OH. She was born Mar. 3, 1909 in Pitt Twp, Wyandot Co. to the late William H. and Anna M. (Dirmeyer) Castanien. She was married to Willis L. Beggs and later to Dale E. Parsell, they both preceded her in death. She is survived by daughter Mrs. Dr. Ralph (Sue) Quellhorst, Powell, OH, a son John P. Beggs, Fairfield, Ct, step- daughters Mrs. Eldon (Carolyn) Stirn, Spencerville, OH, Mrs. Paul (Nancy) Miller, Oldenburg, IN, step-sons Eugene Parsell, Forest, OH, Larry Parsell, Tuscon, AZ, Ronald Parsell, Coulterville, IL, 21 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 6 great great grandchildren, a sister Grace Barnes, Akron, OH and sister-in-law Janet Castanien, Elyria, OH. She is preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, brothers Clarence, David, Fred, Paul, Robert, sisters Murchie Castanien, Florence Bacon, Edith Castanien and Martha Castanien. She was a 1926 graduate of Upper Sandusky High School, a 1930 graduate of Heidelberg College, Tiffin, OH. Mrs. Parsell was a retired school teacher having taught English and Latin at West Unity, LaRue, Eden Twp., Nevada, Findlay and Upper Sandusky Schools. She was a member of Emanuel United Church of Christ where she was a member of the Women's Guild, also had been a member of First Presbyterian Church, Findlay, OH where she was active in the choir and youth leadership. She was member of Search Light Club, Ohio Retired Teachers Asso., Heidelberg College Fellows Organization, Wyandot Co. Senior Citizens and Wyandot Co. Farm Bureau. She enjoyed crocheting, picture albums and made afghans for each of her grandchildren. She enjoyed going to Broadway productions and spending winters in North Ft. Myers, FL for 12 years. Mrs. Parsell enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Hawaii and Switzerland. At the age of 88 she traveled to The Holy Lands. A funeral services will be held Sat. Sept. 8, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Emanuel United Church of Christ, rural Upper Sandusky, OH with Rev. Melinda Quellhorst Lacefield, Rev. Kathy Dwyer, Rev. Marty Stiffler with interment at Oak Hll Cemetery with Dr. Ralph Quellhorst. Visitation will be held in the Bringman Clark Funeral Home on Fri. Sept. 7, 2007 from 6-8 p.m. and one hour before services at the church.
