Flora B. Coons

Flora B. Rothlisberger Coons of Upper Sandusky died in her Alcove Apartment at Fairhaven Health Care Community at 1:50 p.m. on Friday July 8, 2011. She was 93. Mrs. Coons was born on Jan. 29, 1918 in Grayson, K.Y. she was the daughter of Chester and Barbara (Kee) Brown. She married Louis G. Rothlisberger on Aug. 25, 1938 and he preceded her in death on Dec. 26, 1956. She married Joseph Coons on Aug. 2, 1959 and he preceded her in death on Feb. 4, 2011. Mrs. Coons is survived by eight children: Dorothy Ann (Tom) Newell, Upper Sandusky; Michael Ray Rothlisberger, Upper Sandusky; Mark Edward (Debra) Coons, St. Charles, Mo.; Wendy Elizabeth (Bret) Rochotte, New Bremen; Natalie Jo (Don) Dannenhauer, Nevada; Robert Michael (Sharon) Coons, Apex N.C.; Sarah Louise Jenney (David) Rice, Bucyrus; Charles William (Kathy) Coons, Harpster; 24 grandchildren 32 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter Barbara Lee (Fred) Green, sister Hazel Lee Huffman and brother Earl Ray Brown. Mrs. Coons was a homemaker and manager of the family farm. In her earlier years she could be found milking cows and doing outside chores. She loved living on the farm and enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, sewing, crafting, embroidering, quilting, feeding the birds, caring for the cats and was an avid reader. She and her husband Joe enjoyed trips to visit relatives in California and St. Louis Mo. as well as their trip to Europe. Mrs. Coons truly enjoyed being with her family. She was a member of the Union Salem United Methodist Church for more than 50 years where she was an original member of the women's society, helped with many church dinners and other church functions. Mrs. Coons belonged to the General Hospital Guild since it was first organized. She was also a member of the women's bowling league for over twenty years. A funeral service will be held Wed. July 13, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. in the BRINGMAN CLARK Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Old Mission Cemetery in Upper Sandusky. Visitation will be on Tues. July 12, 2011 from 5-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
