Leona R. Gaiser

Leona R. Gaiser, 92 of Upper Sandusky, formerly of Cleveland and Parma, OH died on Wednesday January 26, 2011 in Upper Sandusky. Leona was born March 12, 1918 in Cleveland, OH the daughter of the late William & Anna (Krause) Rossow . She married Howard J. Gaiser on June 24, 1947 and he preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1998. Surviving are daughters Judy Latham (Richard), Upper Sandusky and Joyce Sarver (Robert), Findlay; three grandchildren, Lucas Latham, Katharine and Betsy Sarver. Surviving is a sister, Dorothy Wagner of Independence, OH. Leona attended Lincoln High School and graduated from the new Rhodes High School in Cleveland, OH in 1935. She attended Case Western Reserve University majoring in chemistry and nutrition. Leona was a past member of Columbia Hills Golf Club, Dover Bay, Lakewood and Ridgewood Golf Club, CWCA and WWCA, Ridgewood Garden Club and the Ridgewood United Church of Christ in Parma, OH where she was a member of the Bible study. In earlier years Leona was the pitcher for the May Co. in downtown Cleveland on the “all girl league”. She was fondly known as the “Mighty Might”. Leona was a member of the Heidelberg College Women’s club. Leona was a homemaker, and retired secretary/treasurer of Pure Drinks Inc., Cleveland, OH. In recent years, Leona was a member of the Usando Literary Club in Upper Sandusky, STRS-ORTA, Wyandot Co. Retired Teachers and Ohio Retired Teachers Assoc. Leona treasured her family, her friends with whom she corresponded on a regular basis, gardening, and her late pet dogs, Lady, Buffy, Misty and family times in their summer cottage, built by her husband in 1939 in Wiarton, Ontario, Canada. Services will be held on Sat. January 29, 2011 at 2:00PM at the Bringman Clark Funeral Home with Rev. George Gaiser officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Upper Sandusky. Family and friends may call at the Bringman Clark Funeral Home at 1:00PM one hour prior to the service at 2:00PM.
