Madeline M. Gagnon

Madeline M. Gagnon was born to Oscar L. Minard and A. Giles Minard on Dec. 2, 1928. Maddy was raised in Georgiaville, RI and attended the University of Rhode Island obtaining a degree in Home Economics and Education. She married Robert A. Gagnon of Woonsocket, RI on July 21, 1951 at St. Michaels Church, Georgiaville, RI. They had five children, John (Karen) Gagnon, Sycamore, Susan (William-deceased) Belknap, Bethesda, MD, Marcia (Roger) Gagnon, Blackstone, MA, Robert Gagnon, Upper Sandusky, and Richard (Renee) Gagnon, Upper Sandusky. Maddy is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, A. Pauline. She is survived by her children, thirteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren one great great grandchild and beloved by nieces, nephews and cousins. Maddy was a life long proponent of education. She instilled in her children a desire to read. Maddy supported the library and passed that on to her children and grandchildren. Maddy started the adult Ed programs and was a Welcome Wagon Hostess in Upper Sandusky. She was a traveler – enjoying visits to all fifty states, many countries, living in Europe, and traveling through the Panama Canal. Maddy taught school at St. Mary’s, Kirby, St. Peter's Upper Sandusky, and Our Lady of Consolation, Carey. Maddy loved to play Bridge, paint, swim, and knit, having made hundreds of infant hats for the newborns at Wyandot Memorial Hospital. During her childhood Maddy participated in Boys and Girls State and became the Governor of Rhode Island for a day. Her life long love for swimming began as a child later becoming a life guard in the ocean and a swimming lesson teacher. Maddy will be fondly remembered by all who knew her. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00AM Fri. Jan. 28, 2022 in Transfiguartion of The Lord Catholic Church with Father Conrad Sutter OFM Conv. & Deacon Kevin Wintersteller officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM Thurs. Jan. 27, 2022 at Bringman Clark Funeral Home with a Catholic Prayer Service at 7PM conducted by Father Nicholas Weibel.
