Margaret Witzel

Margaret L. Witzel, formerly of Upper Sandusky passed away died Dec. 8, 2007 in Sarasota, FL She was 92. Born June 29, 1915 in Warren she was the daughter of Warren and Georgia (Price) Miner. She was married to the late Allen L. Witzel, Upper Sandusky, for 42 years. Mrs. Witzel is survived by two sons, James (Judy) Witzel, Worthington, Robert (Karen) Witzel, Jasper, GA, four grandchildren, Chance (Leslie), Chad, Christine and Julie, two great grandchildren, Griffin and Molly, brothers and sisters-in-law, Ann Miner, Bluffton, IN, Noble and Kathleen Fox, Louise Klein and Kate Miner all of Upper Sandusky, Charles Worley, Cincinnati, Don Paul, Redlands, CA and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband a sister, Dorotha (Miner) Paul, Redlands, CA, a brother Richard Miner, Bluffton, IN, three brothers-in-law, Ralph Witzel and Edwin Witzel, both of Upper Sandusky and Walter Kelin, Carey, and a sister in law, Helen (Witzel) Worley of Princeton, N.J. and Cincinnati. Mrs. Witzel graduated from Upper Sandusky High School in 1933. She attended Wittenberg University and the University of Wisconsin and received a bachelor of science degree in education from Bowling Green State University.She taught elementary and high school classes at Upper Sandusky Public Schools for 23 years. Mrs. Witzel was a member of John Stewart United Methodist Church, having taught in the kindergarten department for 22 years. She was a member of the Ohio Education Association and the Wyandot County Retired Teachers Association. She was formerly a member of WSCS, Grace-Davis Circle, Alpha Usando Club, Friends of the Library, Wyandot County Historical Society, Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority, Alpha Delta Pi Sorority and was a former Girl Scout Leader. Mrs. Witzel spent winters in Sarasota, FL from 1975 through 1984, at which time she became a full-time resident. Funeral services will be held Sat. July 26, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Bringman Clark Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Geissinger officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. at the funeral home on Sat. July 26, 2008. Memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the Library in care of Bringman Clark Funeral Home 226 E.
