Schuyler Ruttmann

Schuyler “Scotty” Ruttmann, age 95 of Upper Sandusky, died at his residence on Monday Oct. 12, 2015 at 1:10pm. He was born on July 26, 1920 in Pierre, SD to Stallard Charles and Dorothy May (Rutherford) Ruttmann. He married Elaine Amacher on Feb. 18, 1951 and she preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 2009. Mr. Ruttmann is survived by a son James S. (Vicki) Ruttmann of Bucyrus, two daughters Janice K. (Michael) Gasser of Worthington, Julie A. Raines of Charleston, SC, eleven grandchildren Leslie (Cameron) Carlile, Tricia (Kevin) See, Christopher (Lori) Gasser, Sydney Blake, Scott (Jewel) Ruttmann, Samantha Ruttmann, Shawn Lehnertz, Calley Stuchlik, Kim Lantis, Evan Miller and Madison Miller, fifteen great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter Danielle Higginbotham three brothers and one sister. Mr. Ruttmann was a 60 year member of John Stewart United Methodist Church where he had served on the board. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a double major in engineering and business. He was a WWII Army Air Corp Veteran serving as a Navigator. Mr. Ruttmann was the owner/operator of Ruttmann Construction Co. which is now San-Con. He was a director of emeritus at 1st Citizens National Bank. Mr. Ruttmann was a member of Association of Bituminous, a life member of Elks BPOE #83, member of Upper Sandusky Ram Booster's and served on the Upper Sandusky Public School Board. Scotty and his wife for 25 years resided and spent time in Clearwater, FL where he was a member of Feathers Sounds Golf Club. For hobbies he enjoyed golfing and was a member of Lincoln Hill Golf Club, hunting especially in western United States and Canada and at the Hidden Hollow hunting lodge in Townsend, Montana, reading westerns and the Wall Street Journal and sharing time with family and friends at Ellis Lake. A funeral service will be held Friday Oct. 16, 2015 at 11:00am in John Stewart United Methodist Church with Pastor Brian Arnold officiating. Burial will follow in Old Mission Cemetery, Upper Sandusky. Visitation will be held Thursday Oct. 15, 2015 from 2pm-4pm and 6pm-8pm in Bringman Clark Funeral Home and after 10:00am at the church on Friday.
